Default Looking at buying an RS Turbo

Hello everybody

I am looking at buying an RS turbo, either series 1 or 2.

Question is what to look for?

If i get one i intend on a full restoration anyway but am curious regarding how easy repairs of chassis rails and things are?

Also is there any way to tell if it is a genuine RS or an escort that has been converted to an RS?

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated

How much you willing to spend, all comes into account.sills, chassy rails, battery tray, fuse box, front cross member and panel are all common places to go.so get checking.

For that price you will get a stunner!!! Do not accept anything that is not perfect for that price. Good luck with your search

Sure is.repairing the chassy rails can be tricky.they double layed.so you have to cut out what you can, rust treat the area.then shape up a new rail thats nice and thick, weld it up.you can still buy the whole rails, but pricey and makes job triple hard.as you need to drill old rails out lol.

As said 4-5K will get you a mint S2 or a very good S1 IMO.

as said above, very nice examples tend to be cropping up at around that figure, prices look to be on the up tho lol, BUT still check it over as some people ask that for snotters so beware

dont think you'll need to worry much about rust with that budget mate! As said you'll get a stunning S2 for £5k or a nice S1.

In saying that though, dont assume its rust free at that price, check everywhere for it!

maybe a bit out of budget but this one in the for sale section is gorgeous:
