Default Carbon bonnet

I will be ordering a carbon bonnet for my escort in the next week. Just wondering what company to use as I don't want to be disapoint with the finish + quailty any advice would be great.

Cheers Joe

the finish will be different

the one you listed will be a gel coat, carbon delights will be laquered

imo the actual finish is miles apart

i havent seen one of the ars items in the flesh but i do know how he does them
my bonnet is gel coat and rest is laquered

Mines done by performance trim and is a great piece of work. Some i have seen are crap with the weave all distorted etc...
Only prob i had with it was the bonnet hinge boltholes were too far apart so i had to bend the hinges to suit. Bit of a ballache but all sorted now

Lacquer is much easier to maintain, gelcoat is much harder to repair if needed, if you were going to paint the bonnet then you would use neither, the infused resin itself would be all the finish you would need, you would simply sand the surface back slightly for a key ready for paint, this would be the lightest option. Who even you choose do plenty of research and make sure they know what they are doing as there is so many cowboys out there doing nice shinny carbon on the cheap, as they are cheap so are their products/materials so they just dont last, we do a lot of work on top evo's and other jap models which are usually covered in this carbon crap, when they fade, discolour and crack they really let the car down.

I can vouch for C-delight and performance trim. Both have done top work, eg twins for phil carbon delight and luca for ptrim

Hope this helps

p.s. we will have the escort sorted after we have finished the fiesta mould (but this will be a standard bonnet leaving the vent cutting to the customer

gus i wouldnt mind getting a front and rear spoiler for a rs1600i in carbon as the missus is painting her 16i shell in jewel violet and fitting a duratec and i think they would set it off

hassle the lad. its alot of work i think for him to do just the odd spoiler so would require a few just to make it worth his time and effort into the mould
