Default Overboost

Well the car was running ok, before it went to the garage.

I got it back, and it was deffo overboosting, showing 20psi, if was peaking at 18, before it went to the garage, but they found a slight airleak.

Problem is, i've turned down the actuator, got a -31, and now it just slips on the waste gate, but still shows 18psi, when it peaks, it rubbles, as if it the rev limiter.... and stutters and spluts

i looked and looked and can't find a bleed valve, this should go between actuator and amal valve, is that right, with the centre pipe of the amal to atmosphere, is this correct?

just want to clear a few bits up, aslo the idle is very lumpy.

i've changed the fuel relay, and filter, and checked the fule pump, i was going to replace this as well.

Any help, will be greatfully appreciated

on the amal there wil be letters, w = wastegate, a= atmosphere and either c/t=compressor housing, sounds like one of them is on the wrong one and the wastegate isnt opening

sounds like they've thrashed it and fucked something up then tried to cover it up.

i'd hazard a rough guess they've split one of the (small) boost pipes on your amal valve by thrashing it, then replaced them all but not replaced them correctly. check them all.

lmpy idle would also indicate a small airleak.

dont replace the fuel pump, you dont need to. they usually either work or they dont, its lasted 20 or so years under your car in the sun, rain, snow and salt. trust me its fine unless its making a loud grinding noise.

That 'rubbling' noise you describe it as is most likely 'det' where it's running way too much boost.....don't drive it hard until you've sorted the boost issue as you'll end up melting something! Depending on how much preload the actuator has try bypassing the amal valve by running one piece of hose between the compressor housing outlet and the actuator, and see what boost it runs then. Garages....most can't be trusted lol
