Default focus RS overboosting!

a work mate of mine has just picked up his focus RS, it has a bluefin superchip installed and a de-cat pipe in the boot that was previously on the car.

the CEL is comming on with the fault code for overboost so we have uninstaled the bluefin and returned the car back to standard.

the boost peak at 1.4/5 and dropped back to 1.2 with the bluefin installed, with the bluefin software removed it now peaks at 1.2 and drops back to 0.9bar

has anyone else had this problem before with an overboost CEL on an RS???

thanks for any help

jonny

Yes, for some reason whenever I take my car to the Ring, when I get home the car starts miss-behaving, as in the boost doesn't hold, keeps tailing off under full load then pulling hard, tailing off and so on. Must be the ragging round the track + long distance driving?! Last time I simply cleared the fault code and reset the Bluefin and it was fine again, infact it felt like a completely different car, pulled ALOT harder. After this years trip (2 weeks ago) there was no fault code and the car has only just started playing up. Will reset the Bluefin later to hopefully cure it. For some reason though, when ever I reset it my car runs like a bag of shit for a while, won't idle + miss's until on boost, eventually sorts itself out, very strange. I have heard that an Apexi Boost controller will solve this problem as the standard boost control unit isn't too great. Glad to hear I'm not the only one with this problem!

apexi or any electronic boost controler will solve it, as you have a fixed boost level

i would suggest to got for a blitz sbc id 4 boost controler.
I like it very and SCC even installed it on their focus, so perhaps they can help regarding wiring and so on.

Update on this...

I reset my Bluefin the other evening, the car ran fine from the word go, no missing. Took it down the road and fuuuuck me, feels like a different car. Holds boost fine, slightly more than before on the gauge and it pulls far far harder, thought I'd added about 50BHP to it!! I am going to reset mine every couple of months now for the hell of it, seems very strange but I would try doing this for the time it takes, may sort your problem!!
