i have black paint which can take upto 450 degrees is that sufficent to go on the manifold and exit pipe??

It will flake off straight away.
I just had my new engine's manifold painted white (see pic) with that stuff and after 5 mins of idling it started to peel off

You don't paint manifolds or turbos! You coat them with ceramic heat barrier coatings.
edit: ...and I'm not referring to the terminology of painting. It's just that no paint will last, you need a proper coating...

That was taken last week, its in and running now - looking and sounding sweet as a nut! Just got to run it in, then I can try some nice boost on the new ball bearing turbo!
Didn't think the paint would last long on the manifold - it was really there to make the photos look smart! LOL. My last manifold was like Jesse T said - porcelin or ceramic coated stuff and it didn't go brown/rusty colour but I managed to crack the manifold by overcooking it - doh.

painted my drums and calipers with high temp hammerite and that stuff stinks after a little bit of fun mate..
