Default How deep??

Fook me, in response to a dare from my gf I just added up roughly what I have spent in the last year on the car and it is still not going yet!

= £7465

And needs the whole thing painted again. Think the broken turbo could well be the straw that breaks the camel's back cos I could have bought an evo, scooby or a cossie for that amount easily .

In fact I forgot a few things such as brakes, tools etc so probably nearer £8k ffs!

Well I bought mine with the intention of doing track days and so far have only managed one last year. Had a quick look at Clio's 172 & 182 on Autotrader and they are going for about £3k.

This has got me thinking about getting one stripping it out and using it for track days. By the time I have the Escort broken I should be able to pay off the Clio no probs and anything left over would go towards throttle bodies and slick tyres for the new ride, hmmm.

Well it is scary how it adds up if you don't keep track like me! The car was only £1300 the rest is all parts including wheels & tyres, engine rebuild and pretty much everyhting else in the engine bay replaced. I keep thinking of other stuff I have not included like 2 x starter motors and a new alt and batery! Trouble is I doubt I will get half of that back even by breaking it!

Never, never, NEVER work out what you've spent. I once started to with mine and got to almost £30k over the 14 years of ownership. I promptly stopped working it out after that sum of money.

managed to do my rs on a shoe string budget, So I think running costs and insurance etc aside I'm at about the 4-5k region. Still needs to be painted though so will be near 6-7k by the time i'm done.

About 7k over 4 years including original purchase but probably 2k of that was funded by selling parts, and the GF always gets my something for the car for Christmas, birthdays, etc..

to be honest mate tho, ew all know when it comes to selling its easier to just break them, when the day comes i will just buy a rot box and and paint every part ect and fit to mine and sell as a standard s1 and sell all my bits seperate

It makes me sad when people just break them for parts. I've said to myself that I will never do that with mine regardless of the money difference. I would rather see someone enjoying my car than think "thats another rs turbo off the road for good".

the only way i wouldnt break it is if someone offered me another cosworth or mk1/2 escort .... but as i said i would build it into a standard car as thats how i would make the most money.... as my shell is worth what £1500-2k as a restore s1 with history but if i built it back up to a full car its worth 5k+ all day long and it would only cost me about a grand as i still have alot of it....

plus ive got about 5k worth of bits on it to sell seperately and whats a fully modified s1 with 270+bhp worth lets say 7.5k so i would make 2.5k for a bit of messing about...
