I have had plastic one in my road car for over 12 years and also in my track car getting abused. Not broken once so i dont see the point in metal ones.

The hydraulic conversion maybe something ill consider in the future. However for now i just want to do the clutch pedal conversion. Jano do you modify the mk5/6 quadrant as it shows on the ap website? and also which cable should i be using?

Think i might just try the plastic modified one.

I use both setups depends on what the car is used for. The adjustable setup is easy enough to do with the std pedal. Just drill a hole in the pedal weld a nut and use an old headbolt to adjust the height.

Or take the whole pedal box off and fit the mk5 setup.

Or just leave it as it is with std setup just new items.

Like i said above my car has never given issues after all the abuse its given.

The car is only used on the road, its running a healthy 2.1zvh stage 3 head and turbo high lift cam etc... Its just not as driveable as it was previously in the standard clutch setup when coming down through teh box into second when you release teh clutch it judders and does the same when turning round ie first and reverse. Also the pedal feels really heavy compared to what it used to. What cable should i be using the rst item or the non abs one?

Yeah but then it wont hold anywhere near as much torque before slipping because you have just removed all the extra clamping force that you paid £300+ for!... If we are talking about the AP Organic range of course?!

Yeah I'm talking ap organic 4 paddle. So I won't be changing the cover plate. I think ill change the pedal for the mk5 and also modify the quadrant along with a non abs cable and then see how it is if its still not better then it'll be going hydraulic.

Ah.. your paddle!
The juddering will never go away as that is the characteristics of a paddle clutch, and the only way to make it lighter really is to go hydraulic.
Changing the quadrant, cable, pedal, will make no difference mate

Problem is Karlos that when i first put the engine back in and went to select gears i couldnt get it into reverse i mean physically couldnt force it into reverse. Also when putting it into first the car was creeping with the clutch fully depressed. I had to change the hole which the cable ran through on the top of teh box and then to get any driveability i had to put 4 or 5 washers on the cable before it goes through that hole just to be able to get it into reverse. Thats why i think it needs the adjustable pedal conversion. I know that the 4 paddles judder when you first pull away and when manouvering the car around but surely it shouldt be acting the wayi have described?

Your spot on there mate, you do need the pedal conversion! This will sort the clearance issues out but as above the rest will remain.

So just to re-cap, if I do the pedal conversion it will sort out the creeping issues and in order to do that I need a mk5 pedal and ratchet and a "non" abs cable?

TBH Mike I dont know why the ABS one is in two halfs (maybe it had to route through/around something), so long as it pulls the clutch arm on the gearbox I dont see it making much difference?!

Ive just brought the pedal and quadrant from ford. But why does it say on the AP website that you have to put an m8 locknut on the back of the bolt adjuster??? what does it do?

it stops the adjusting bolt from digging into the quadrant.
