Have you checked simple fuses first? If ok then move onto the relay for the fans and follow the same procedure for the indicators.

The fans would have a dedicated fuse I am sure as would the indicators and are totally independent of each other although don't know Escort electrics intimately.

Don't associate the two problems as it could just be pure coincidence both things have appeared at the same time as it sounds in this case it's two separate issues.

Also see if the indicator fuse protects anything else as it's not uncommon for it to protect two circuits, I.E reversing lights as well or it may well energize the fan relay as well.

Definate earth check the 2 on the inner wings just below the back of the headlights and then check the one on the wiper motor mount.

The fact the indicators work with alarm show it not to be an earth problem!

My indicators still flashed when I bleeped my alarm however when I had my foot on the brake pedal and the inidcator on the indicator wouldn't flash. Also my heater fan wouldn't work when the wipers were going, all I did was clean all three earth that I said previously and he presto problems solved.
