IF its a genuine 200bhp and is geared suitably, then I dont see why not.

Yeah it will need a longer FD and bigger wheels than standard but yes should do.

Just checked and with the stock FD of 3.82 all you need is 16's 195/45 and at 6400rpm (stock limiter) you would hit exactly 150mph.

I've done it in my old xr3i easy, i would say it has more to do with the engine build than the HP

What do you mean mate? Doesnt matter how well you build the engine if it doesnt put out enough power it will never pull to the limiter in 5th..... which you need to

Don't really know what you mean there, the way an engine is put together is imperative to how it performs.

But my first comment was not how it was put together i was meaning the build spec really.

My engine was built to rev - steel components, ARP throughout, fully balanced, peened, knife endge etc - the head was optimum ports, valves, matched, guides, solid lifters, custom cam and would rev out the std gauge.

Transmission was uprated clutch in a custom box - a mix of S1, RS2k (i think it was), and Diesel final gears

What I mean is a normal 105bhp XR3i will never hit the limiter in 5th and do 150mph no matter how well it's put together lol
But your build spec is another story, very impressive to hit 150mph in a NA CVH
Would love to see how and were it makes power, dont supose you have a graph do you?

Regarding the original context, he was probably suggesting that based on the fact that he has been 'off the clock', so assumed that to mean about 150mph. Mine used to reach that point with another cog to go.

Fact is, the original speedo is a good way out. From all the top speed events I have done, I can tell you that most 'tuned' RST's do 148mph and of course you need to make further changes to alter this. Removing or raising the rev limit isn't really enough, since you need to be able to pull past 6250 anyway, which most 200bhp RST's won't really do. It's all academic anyway, because the chances are in this case that it was as I said and not that he has carried out a proper test with calibrated equipment.

A long time ago i owned that car 1998, never had power runs as it was never about figures years ago it was more what it was like on the road and it was good the level of components in the block and head were the very best on the market.

As above all guestimates readings of the std gauge

Fair play Brammer, would of been nice to see it's curve just for interest sake, never really looked at any tuned NA CVH's.

love that 3 door mate BRAMMER. ALSO ABOUT THIS 150MPH thing i dontsee how it makes sense i have around 200bhp on a zetec 2.1 engine t3 turbo running 14psi etc dont no how i managed to have it at 140mph so quick. not sure but it would have done a bit more maybe 150mph which would have ben way off the clock, dont understand as in mags rs turbos running alot more bhp etc only get like 140 tops unless its really beefed up which get like 145 etc,,,, wondering if the ford guages are obviously lying a bit lol maybe if u strapped a proper speed guage ull get 20mph lesss or so ???????????

Part of the fun doing stupid speeds lol. They were built for 0 to 60 rather than top speed. The more bhp you got,the faster you get to your limiter. Not enough bhp, then you wont use all the final drive.Use a Sat nav if you not got correct equipment.
