Default Alternator question

Hi

My rst flashing all lights in fast cycle when car is idling. I think that alternator voltage balancer (i dont know exact word) has been failed. How difficult this is fix my self and how much new part will cost? I tried search but i cant find any help for this problem. I have multimeter in home so i can later today measure charging voltage.

It could well be the alternator REGULATOR part at fault, this as it's name implies regulates the amount of voltage, I would have a general check of all connections on engine/battery first, never hurts, if I were you.
You can get a part repair done to just the alternator part that is duff, but if it's done any amount 60,000+ miles I would just swap it in for a reconditioned one, which should start around £45 or so.
If wanting to diy fix then alternator make dependant it can be a easy fix on most.
