Default tappets on start up
is it normal for my rs to sound tappety for around 3 seconds on start up from cold??
if so is it a problem that needs sorting cheers guys...

its tappy cos no oil has circulated to the top of the engine yet then quietens when it has. It should not really do it though.

most cvh engines will do it unless it has fairly fresh cam lifters!

As above, most cars i have ever had (regardless of make and mileage) have had noisy hydraulic tappets on start up after being stood for a while and cold.

thanks guys so its nothing to worry about then...
how much would it cost to have a new set of cam lifters fitted??
