Default Anyone got a Pedal Box fitted?

As some of you are aware im doing a zetec turbo conversion. Im putting in a focus rs box which is hydraulic clutch, and also want to get rid of the servo/master cylinder. I know compbrake sell them but just want to see how hard it is to fit and do the do one for the Mk4 Escort or will it be a universal jobbie?

Cheers

i got a willwood one from rally design

it was a universal jobbie and caused its fair share of problems

the actual pedal box isnt a great deal of dollar

mine then needed fabricating for brackets and steering coloum mods, resevoir, aeroquip, master cylinders and bias valves

so all in all it wasnt cheap

Gus - Was it worth it in the end tho? Only thinking of doing it because im getting just the box that replaces the servo/master cylinder (From compbrake mounts in same place as std servo), so wondered if it was worth putting in a whole pedal box as i need a hydraulic clutch?

we made our last one and had massive alterations, not easy or cheap, there are alot more off the shelf conversions now, compbrake sell the one which just bolts on were the standard one sits, tony turbo has one in his

Probably a silly question but what are the benefits of just buying the box that replaces the servo/master cylinder? (From compbrake mounts in same place as std servo)

What does it do the pedal feel?

the worst part of the braking system is the bar that goes across the bulkhead
if you are going to a pedalbox fit it directly behinf the pedal
the pedalbox and cylinders arent alot of money but it starts adding up when you buy the lines and connections

I've got the servo replacement unit for the brakes and will be using a Landrover Defender bulkhead mounted Master Cylinder for the clutch, smilar to the guide Karlos put on here. As said, th bar is the weak link, however the pedal box will give you better control over the braking system and be able to move more fluid if running big brakes.

So Muz you recomend the servo replacement? And whats the Landrover setup like?Been speaking to steve at Compbrake and he recons to go for a full floor mounted pedal box. The CMB666 fits very will in the footwell but you have to bring it back a bit because of the steering column. Going to measure it all up and may go for that?

Its Ł250 all in, that comes with the pedal box, reservois, brackets and braided lines from box to reservois.

Not a bad deal really, only problem being is like i said you have to move it back a bit so you then have to move seat back slightly, which in a track car would be a good thing i guess!

I have a Gartrac item fitted in mine which is meant to be a bolt in job but it caused many headaches and steering mods. It has the master cylinders inboard but they also do one with the cylinders facing into the engine bay. The kit also includes a on dash adjustable brake bias setup. Ł600ish if I remember and a lot of head ache.

The difference is amazing tho and well worth the cash for a real firm brake pedal and amazing clutch control. They do both cable and hydro. It halls me up from 140mph no sweat at all.

I actually don't know yet Matt. I haven't used either yet! I went for a Landrover MC as I heard bad things about the universal jobs failing because the pistons score the bores as they wear and leak. So I asked my brother who is big intohis Landrovers and my mate who's a main dealer Landrover mechanic what the clutch MC are like and neither had heard of them failing so they must be quite good quality. I'm hoping the LR MC and the Hyundai slave cylinder will give me a nice light clutch though.
