also quaife always underestimate there power out puts etc.... so if you run over that and it breaks the cover is void

I thought the hole point of a straight cut box is so u can put shit loads of power though them without them going bang on u (and they sound good 2)

Im sure he said that the box has a Quaife diff aswell, im just waiting for him to let me take out his S1 for a play before I commit to buy! is there anything I should be looking out for? as I dont wanna spend 1,000 £'s & end up with a headache
cheers Ant

I have no idea when I bought it was told 180bhp, I have a few things I wana change so havent had it power tested yet! @ the mo the cars more of a show car, Im not planing on stripping it out and use asa out an out track car just wana beef it up, Im gonna keep the car for a long time so got plenty of time to get it right

I wasn't planning on changing the box yet but this quaife straght cut box has come up & seems like ill b kicking my self lata if i dont have it, plus my m8s sorting me out, getting a really good deal spose I should get it on the rolling road before I change 2 much other wise I won't how much ive improved the power once its finished

if you not racing it etc....i doubt you would like the whining of a straight cut box every day, especially on the motorway run, would get on your nerves

the 400hp is bull shit lol they are talking about sunnys old green fiesta and he broke it more than a few time from what im told.

the main problem with the ib5/bc aint the gears its the main shaft.

for your £k you could do a focus rs conversion.

Sunny's wasn't straight cut though was it, Gary? Thought his was a CTS Stage 2+? And yes, I think he break that a few times, as did Paul Jonhson.

I've heard of the BC straight cut boxes running 300BHP and Torque without any problems. The problem with the BC is the design of the gearbox casing itself, being inherently weak and twisting, destroying the bearings.

the problem with bc gearbox is the helicol gearset push their self apart and fook the bearings then the case, straight cut don't

im told he tryed the straight cut gears and broke them .

loads of pepole run that kind of power through bc/ib5's its all down to how you use it! what you use it for! and how manny miles you do.

TBH The Quaife SCCR boxes usually aren't all that on turbo motors, strength wise for one and the other being the ratios ( unless someone chose some good ones ) are unlikely to to suit your engines powerband.

Just my thoughts on it, I'd be using a FRS box over a Quaife unit if their as strong as people say.
