Default running problems

Hi wondering if anyone can help ?
i have series 2 RST and was running fine before and had front end crash its since had whole new front end new rad new intercooler,
now after it was put back together had loads of trouble trying to get it to run correct timming was out and air fuel was way out its now set at 2% and idle fine i can drive the car but as soon as anysign of boost the engine starts spluttering and then sounds like only running on 3 cylinders then it will clear as long as revs are kept below 3000rpm at first i did find that from the accident the actuator bracket had been hit hard and the acctuator was holding waste gate open so adjusted that and that has made it worse as now it will boost to 15psi if i keep my foot down but it will cut right out then back in and splutter and run rough ive run out of idea as ive renewed everything and still cant sort it ?

could the turbo be cracked it was brand new before accident
thankyou in advance
andy

no your fuel or spark are not right it needs setting up before you melt the engine you need your on boost fuel setting like you needed your idle fuel setting but not sure why they have been touched if you only had a panel crash if no one touched them they all should of been fine, same as timing why has this been touched as could still be out

ive had the car into local garage had timming set up at 8% btdc and co2 set at 2.5% and still the same they had look for air leaks and found nothing that is as far as they would go as they dont know enough about the escort rs turbo to go to deep so im still with this problem ?
The only other thing that has been uprated is the breather system to baileys and a kent cvh 34 camshaft could the camshaft cause these problem if not set up right ? i loosing hope now any help would be great thankyou Andy

the timing is 12 degrees and you have 2 fuel things to set up one for idle which you've done and there's another one which does you on boost fuel which is the little black/grey box on the fuel metering unit but you really need to know what your doing to set this and some equipment to monitor the results and if the cam is knackered you'd get some erraticness but not normally to the degree your getting, you need the cam timing setting aswell as the dizzy you really need to go to someone with knoledge of them, jano would be my choice down your way he knows his apples

could it be posibly that metered air is escaping back through the breather you have installed? this would cause it to go mega rich and retarded on boost! just a thought, ive put these breathers on before and never put the return back into airbox as this can cause this type of problem, try venting the breather to atmosphere and blanking off the port in the metering unit, just a thought

hi i did have it so it was breathing to atmosphere and the problem was still there ive since reconnected to airbox
What i dont understand is it was spot on boosting to 20psi with no problems then had a front end crash and now its playing up since the repair the only thing we found is the actuator bracket must of bent as the rod was keeping the wastgate open all the time but all we done was adjust the rod and set it to 15psi and now got these problems im stumped to what it is thanks for advice

Does seem like a strange one, the actuator isnt cracked or split leaking boost? mdoesnt take much of a hole to cause problems, thing is if you sort it you will have to reset your co mixture again mate.

Ke-jetronic was ok when it was new, but things soon went efi, and remain so today 20 years on! consider maybe converting it to efi with fiesta turbo parts, and programable management like megasquirt or similar, it give you so much adjustability and scope for improvement and further modifications. Ive megasquirted four cars and had great results from them all. Depends if its a car to keep or not, just thinking incase you start spending lots of money on the old k-jet system!
