in the next few months im going to start getting the bits for the new engine together. I will be limited for time to have the car of the road long weekends mainly so im thinking of building a zvh then fitting that still running on mfi. Then next time swapping to efi or swap to efi and rebuild my engine.Or if i go zetec turbo do i go efi then build the engine to put in.Any help from anyone that has done this work KARLOS and wher to start thanks

lol
EFI conversion can easily be done in a day so do that first, then either build a good CVH or Zetec Turbo lump to drop in, dont waste your time with half arsed ZVH's they need too much money and work to produce a nice power band and then you have all the bad points of a CVH and none of the good points of a Zetec! lol

Everyday mate yes, it's my only car right now!
Bigger power does not mean unreliability unless your pushing the limits of your engine internals.... 20+ year old parts and management is what makes them unreliable

Loom wise if you want it easy (OFAC/OFAB) then check the sticky at the top of page, but if you want the most out of it then speak to whoever will map it and go with what management they recommend.

Sticky at the top of the page you tell you everything you need to know mate, easily done in a weekend!
Only thing is depending on the age of your block you might have to drill a hole for the CPS, which means taking the gearbox out

not true !!! i run a 370+hp zetec turbo . its my only car ! i do 400 miles a week in it going to work ect , and plenty runs at the pod with no probs .

in the last 2 years its only had oil and plugs.

my aulternator belt snapped in feb and took out the cam belt but not really a reliablety issue my fault for not having the cam belt cover on.

the car is on a g plate if that helps about the cps i have read the sticky and will read it about a million times more aswell as anything i can find on the web.I do like the idea of a huge power zetec but 200 bhp at the wheels for the time being will do lol when i come to do it i will have to get your number carlos for when i get stuck.Would it be easier to try and find a knackered frst?

i'm totally for efi, get that done first.
then decide on how you want your power and work out your costs.
i have had cvh and zvh's now and i can't really fault the zvh as such, been reliable and only started getting worn after i chucked 23psi through it for a while (bloody fast).
so now i've decided to go the full hog and build a 2.1 zetec turbo with forged internals still running on megasquirt, probably make it sequential injection though.
ultimately i want it to be more efficient and more potential long term, not that my mk2 fiesta needs much power to propel it anywhere
buy my engine fella just needs rings and it'll be mint for a lot longer

Totally agree...if you have the money then go for a Zetec turbo lump and aftermarket EFI management i.e megasquirt, Gotech etc but be prepared to replace the clutch and either recondition or replace the gearbox if after mega power.
If not then sensible mods to a rebuilt CVH and either OFAB/OFAC management or aftermarket will see reliable power in excess of 200 bhp easy as long as you have a decent intercooler and turbo.

will any xr3i loom work from a late mk 4 or maybe a mk 5 3i is it just a case of it being a xr3i with a cvh? and then sourcing all the other bits

Have never heard of anyone using a mk5 loom perhaps there is a very good reason for that but not sure what.

If you can get a hold of a mk4 one then probably be best.
