Default Really dumb bottom end rebuild question

Just opened the box with my block in it, after having it refaced and honed....

There are no main cap dowels any where, on the main caps or in the block.... should there be? the main caps feel very sloppy when loosely bolted to the block.

Cheers

Sloppy when loosely bolted? Try tighening them up to the correct torque

I know i know.... not really blond lol i just hadn't looked at it very closely before i took it into be faced, and yes sloppy when loosely bolted.... as in movement around the bolt, not the bolt moving because its not tight enough,

Bellend moment over, thanks for the replys!

if you need to take up the slack you can space them out with hula hoops, just not cheese and onion flavour

this for the RS turbo?

cos they should have 2 dowls in the deck face, and the caps should have a register to align them on the block when tightened.

really? i know the caps have a register in the block, was just curious about any dowls, purely because i thought the caps would need these to align etcetc.... every yb, dohc i have seen/touched have dowles on the mains

So far so good (Karl touches wood)! lol
5000 miles roughly i've done since the build, plenty of 6-7k rpm sustained runs and the boost peeking at 27psi, she's still holding together!

Still thinking about a GT2560 (GT28R) and pushing for very high 200's bhp wise!

hehehe Yes mate it is indeed the trusty 3i box!
I did buy a nice 11k mile Sport Ka IB5 box and a brand new Viscous LSD for it, but DHL have managed to lose the box and I have not got round to sorting another one yet

Well looks like you'll be done before me then Rob! lol
From what I know it will just need some adjustment of the brackets and/or cradle to ensure the engine is not tilting forwards.
