Default engine bits help

is there any way i can tell what has been done to my engine it boosts to 10psi on the gauge so im not sure if its just been chipped.How can i check if anything else has been done?also what oil should i use being as i dont know what has been done to the engine..Can the boost be turned up a little by shortening the actuator rod or is 10 psi about as high as it can go safely many thanks in advance

don't mess with the boost yourself, take it to a tuner for a check over if your unsure

mobil 1 15w50 motorsport is a popular oil choice

yeah think thats best all round but how can i check what mods have been done under the bonnet and is 10 psi standard boost?

yes 8-10 psi is standard boost

i think 10 psi is the limit for a standard ecu a chipped ecu will have this limit removed i personally would not give it more boost by messing with the actuator without adding more fuel as well, these are tempremental engines that need setting by someone who knows what they are doing. i would reccomend you take it to a reputable tuner like nms or msd it isnt as dear as people think (usually less than 200 quid) for a set up and the difference will be like night and day withe the added plus of it being safe

also how can i tell if its been chipped and if it hasnt can i buy a used ecu that has been chipped aslong as they match up hearts diamonds etc and just plug and play?
