Default Help needed with boost problem! PROBLEM SOLVED!

Evening all!

Ive posted about this before but still having the same problem!

Basicly had a bump in my S2 but only damage was front bumper and rad. Ever since ive fixed them the car wont boost up AT ALL! It dosnt sound like a boost leak beacause im not getting and "hissing" as you normally would. Ive had intercooler tested and its fine. Checked turbo/manifold/elbow etc and all looks like it should.

Anyone got and final ideas or what i can check before i take it to a tuner to get it looked at?

Starting too really peeeee me off now because weather is getting good and the S2 is sat in the garage!

Cheers

Matt

Disconnect the actuator and make sure the wastegate arm moves freely.....then reconnect and put a piece of hose from the actuator to a pump or airline and pump it up to see what pressure it takes for the actuator to open. Had a similar problem a while back on a mates rst and it turned out to be the wastegate arm sticking (actuator held wide open so no boost).

been having same with mine for about 3 weeks turned out the wastegate penny wasn't sealing properly only half was sealing properly and the back was open letting the boost just blow on by finally got onto it when i tested it with some water and it could't hold it in a pool kept running out of it but that only happened as i was cleaning it to check for cracks

Ive just had a look at the actuator and taken the 'c' clip off the bottom and the penny wheel arm is loose and opening properly but the actuator arm is very stiff. it looks as if it was holding the penny wheel open... Is the actuator arm sposed to be really stiff?

act arm is supposed to be very stiff as your pulling against the spring but you are supposed to set it so the penny is shut when the spring is pulling against it. to set it up put penny in closed position then adjust arm so it is half a hole short of going on then either pull it on or use a pump to push rod out a bit so when you do get it on the act arm is pulling the penny shut that will give you some type of boost if all is working right

Yes, then lock it off again......as said it should hold the wastegate firmly shut, if it's open it will hold little or no boost.

Took the actuator off and found out it was holding the wastgate open hence why not boosting. Just need to get her set up now! Result!
