Default Hammerite paint still soft after 3 days!?!

Has anyone had problems with can Hammerite being...well, shit? On Wednesday I stripped my Brembos down to bare metal, rubbed them down with thinners, gave them 3 coats of etch primer and left to dry in 40 degree heat for 1 hour, did the scratch test with a screwdriver and was nciely etched in, didn't leave a mark.
So I put 4 coats of Hammerite on the fronts of the calipers and left it to harden over night, but forgot about them. I checked them last night and the Hammerite was still soft! Not just with a nail scratch, but if I press my thumb on them it leaves a finger print in the paint!
So I put both of the heaters on them on 4 hours to "bake" the paint on. The calipers were so hot I couldn't touch them. Left them too cool off and harden over night, checked them this mornign and they are still soft!
I've never had this problem with Hammerite before

Never had a problem like that, the 4 coats may have something to do with it though as i've never needed to use quite that many?

as above you should always let paint flash off before over coating

It says on the tin to allow 15 minutes between coats. I left about 30-45 mins between each coat and I had the heaters on. I haven't had this problem with Hammerite before. I painted my head with Silver the week before in the same way and thats perfect? Wonder if it's something to do with the pigments in the yellow taking longer to cure?

I had the heaters on and the paint did dull off between coats And the coats weren't heavy, no runs etc. I'm usually pretty good at painting.

i painted a wheel arch and that took over a week to fully harden.
i think their drying times are a little optimistic to say the least.

I was quite tempted to bake them in the oven, but seeing as we've just bought a new AGA I don't think my life would be worth living if I was caught I'll leave them a Week and see what happens.

I thought that, but I painted the head, oil cap and sump exactly the same way, but with silver and all 3 of those have been fine. Just the yellow doesn't seem to have liked it.

Silver Hammerite is like a base coat, the thinners in the mix evaporates quickly, so drying time is a lot quicker, with a solid colour this takes a lot longer, I have had this problem before with hmmerite aerosols where the paint dont like the primer, thus the paint livens the primer up and it wont go off, and when it does eventually go off, every time heat is applied it livens the paint up again and a week down the line looks shit!

I would strip it off and as said above paint them in 2k or buy plasti coat enamel aerosol (available b&q etc) its better than hammerite, gives a better finish and goes off rock hard,

Cheers Mark. You've painted your fair share of calipers so I'll strip and re do them with Plasti coat.
