Would you buy them from Ford or a auto factors?

If I were to buy a cam and lifters I would either buy Newmans, or from Ford, auto factors ones are crap (not that I know Ford are any better, but there is hope! lol ) they fall apart in no time.

I would replace cam and followers together personally.

Providing the wear pattern on the cam and followers is normal, ie even then on thier own is fine, they rotate in use to even the wear anyway.
Good pattern ones are fine, I've used many, inc lately BGA ones and been perfect, FORD do not make hydraulic followers so theirs are pattern anyway!!

i'm on a BGA motorfactors special and i'm shocked it's still running and working well.
all dialled in properly and seems alright, definitely room for more performance though.
£70 for a cam kit, can't complain.
this is one of the few BGA products that have lasted more than a few weeks.

Thats really bad advice sorry!!
CVH Cam/lifters work harden in the first 20mins of running, so if you use new lifters with an old cam then the cam will rip the lifters apart in no time as the cam will be hard and the lifters will be soft!

You've been lucky mate!
My BGA cam/lifter set fell apart very very quickly! lol
Have you actually tried taking the lifters out since fitment though? I bet if you do a good portion of them will not pull out the head because they have split and burred over at the bottoms

I've had more luck with motorfactor than "proper" ones.
I've had 2 kent ones crack and collapse on the base, 1 kent seize solid. Not much luck with Ford ones staying quiet either.

Generally when i've run motorfactor ones they've stayed quiet and lasted as long as the cam (5-6000 miles )

All of the above were new lifters with a new cam each time.

they've been out a couple of times due to bottom end work etc and fully cleaned the head before hand. like i said, i'm quite suprised as all their other products are mostly shite, headgasket lasted 40 miles, manifold gasket lasted till i hit boost the first time.

BGA is just a pattern part brand Oranoco.
Hydraulic lifters will often not tap even when the bases look like the head of a chisle thats been hit with the worlds biggest hammer! Which is generally what happens if you fit new with old or nowadays even new with new, trust me i've seen enough!

xr2wishy you really have been lucky!
Mate of mine just had a BGA head gasket let go too, not best pleased!

I'd just try motorfactor ones if i was you, i've installed some BGA ones and they didn't stay quiet for long and then bought a standard set off burton which lasted about the same- my cvh has always been noisy since its rebuild(fed up of changin oil/cams/seals/pumps etc) but pulls perfectly ok and runs fine so it will stay that way lol
