right i started my st170 box conversion today

box is now in place and the servo and master cylinder is removed

ive had an idea

ive ordered one of the universal master cylinders like karlos used in his clutch guide

my plan is if i buy 3 of these and mount them 1 as in karlos's guide for the clutch and another 2 by the side then make a bar that links the 2 and attach it to the brake pedal then connect the 2 brake pipes that where connected to the orignal master cylinder one to each of the new master cylinder's

would this be ok?

or is there a different amount of pressure in each of the 2 fittings on a standard master cylinder


any info would be greatly appreciated

otherwise im gonna have to go by a floor mounted pedal box :'(

No it won't work. Proper pedal boxes weren't made so that people could waste some money. Have you considered pedal throw and the ratio of movement between the pedal and the cylinder? Have you even considered safety and that the brakes are about the most important thing on the car and something that should only be done properly?

yes i know brakes are the most important thing thats why i asked im not that bothered about having to buy a pedal box i just wondered if this would work

does anybody know the best place to buy a pedal box?

is it not possible to simply pull all the brake stuff forward to clear the gear selector have you any pics to show how much they interfere with each other, i picked mine up last night so will be tackling it in the near future p.s don't do what you said above and the clutch and brake cylinders need careful measurements as we tested the guide on 2 cars before posting it on to karlos and make sure you use a genuine girling cylinder as they much better than wilwood and only a £10 dearer

ordered a clutch from ebay.com with flywheel and crazycage is doing my shafts

gonna order a lsd tomorrow aswell been looking at the obx lsd's from ebay.com

£250 plus shipping but not to sure about them some people say they are good some people say they are shit tbh think im gonna bite the bullet and buy a quiafe

only thing i havent worked out yet is electronic speedo

gonna start a resto thread when all my parts arrive so keep your eyes open

i've spoke to crazycage about helping me out with the conversion too and seen those clutches but sas can do one for £433 that can handle anything i can throw at it and like you i'm not sure about diff, might just for now get it all up and running and in the future pay out for the diff

Which part originally creates the interference problem with the 6-speed linkage? Servo or the master cylinder? Any pictures on this?

the servo is the problem the selector hits the bottom

nuts rus can supply a bias box that bolts in place of the standard servo which should solve the problem ive opted for the floor mounted pedal box tho complete with hydraulic clutch

why rick are the ratios really that bad??

i know sas and luca both run them?

tbh im not aiming for top speed runs just want a nice reliable box that isnt gonna shit itself when i give it some power

nice to see your still with us, as to your post i can change fast and when i done the gear ratios i think it'll help keep that lag monster under control and if i don't like it or it annoys me then i'll just go over to the frs like you, IS YOUR CAR GOING TO BE READY FOR CENTRAL DAY sorry for shouting but your dragging your heels now and wait till you get mapping again it's like a different car you'd of loved it the other night when we were out and about must of give engine and box a good testing just need to get my in gear boost sorted now as at 15psi it's a handful can't wait to see what 2 bar is going to be like

Won't be running at central day, want it ready to go to the Ring in on the 19th of May. Only had the odd Saturday on it, rewired the jungle behind the dash and got the dash in last Sat. I can't really be bothered doing anything in the cold!

Would it clear the linkage, if a Cosworth electrohydraulic master cylinder is used? Any guesses? Quite an easy conversion at least on a LHD RST.

the only way i could see of moving the servo would be to space the whole assembey including the bar that goes across and then you back into the teritory that christian mentioned in his post,
