no dash dont have to come out. take the two pipes off in the eng bay.two screws hold it on inside the box you will have to free up dash to move it about.its take about 1 hour to as its not easy lol

i've changed mine with the dash on the car!!. just put out the center console and the central air vents. Remove all the air pipes and the two ties. Ties are beside driver and passenger foot. in engine bay are two hoses going to the small heater radiator. After all these you sould find two 13mm screws. This is thε difficult part of the job because you don't have enough space to move..

Had mine out in my MK3 yesterday as its leaking,as said just pull the vent hoses off and undo the 13mm nuts holding the heater box to the bulk head and that should give you enough room to pull the 2 pipes through the bulk head and slide the rad out, whilst on the subject has anyone got a spare rad they would like to sell as mine is leaking, tried to silicon it up but made no difference
