Default Hw much power should a 1900 rs turbo roughly produce

Just started to get me old mans rs turbo back on the streets of ashford after a 4 year abscence. He had the engine fettled by jamsport sum years back but never run it in. Just wondered what these engines roughly produce?

Thats Standard rs turbo power aint it? the engines been bored out to 1900, ported and polished head, dowelled and matched ports, piper cam and pully, after market mappable management (gotech i think as jamsport done the work) and hybrid t3.

Good stuff. Can't wait to run the bloody thing in and get it mapped, drove it the other day at about 50% throttle and shifting at 3000rpm and still felt rapid even with only a running in map! In two minds over who to map it, either take it back to jamsport who built it or see if i can get ahmed to do it as my mate knows him well. wot u reckon?

Gotech is pretty crude, and I don't know whether Ahmed will map it, he'll probably tell you to put Pectel on it. Jamsport will obviously do it no problem.

Jamsport or sitech are the daddies when it comes to gotech mapping

Thought that may be the case but my mate seemed to think he will map anything. Originally wanted cossie management but got talked outta of it as the boys at jamsport said it was getting harder to get hold of decent ones. Pectels expensive aint it?

Can you bore the 1.6 to a 1.9? You sure its not a 1.9 tall block?

The jamsport ones arent actually bored out to 1.9, i think theyre bored out slightly and stroked to make them 1.9. Also, theres nothing wrong with the gotech management mate, if its already fitted keep it, its easily good enough for what you have.

Ive got a 1.9 ( american tall block ) with gotech and it runs fine, much much better than mfi.

Dave.

the 1.9 has 1.9 cast into the block and 1.6 for the 1.6. From what I researched when I had one specialized engines were the main importer of the tall blocks back in the 90's. I thought mine was a tall block in my old escort demo car but found out it was a bored/stroked 1.9, bmw con rods, mercedes pistons, a proper mish mash, went well though but was restriced due to the cast pistons, wasnt able to go over a bar of boost as they would probably melt

I have heard the jamsport ones make very, very good power!!

Interested to know why rick thinks gotech is crude, especially when you compare it to MFI.
Our 1.9 is a 1.6 block bored and stroked, developed 15years ago and ran in jamies own q plate all those years ago.

It's crude for a number of reasons:

No priming pulse map
No cranking map - just a single variable
Very poor transient control - just two variables.
Mediocre resolution for injector pulse width
Poor interpoltion of load sites.

However, I do think it's good for the money and can be made to work well.

Rick.

my 1900 is being mapped this thursday coming at jamsport, thats a 1900 american tall block, shot peened and polished rods, big valve ported polished head, 3 angle seats, anti pump lifters, cvh34 cam and vernier, stage 3 t3, port matched 16i inlet, front mounted cooler, cossie pump, on gotech mini x with cossie greens.

my mates also got a jamsport spec 1900 in his bonus track car which will be mapped soon hopefully, was previously producing 241bhp and as raj said it went really well

Well should be up to the jamsport boys in the new year then for a mapping session. need to put some miles on her but that isn't very easy at the mo considering i dont take her out unless its bone dry!!! Maybe the jamsport boys will remember her, its the grey RS1900 rattlesnake that appered in performance ford back in April '05.

Why would you sell new management to replace it with old stuff when it already has it fitted?

I'd just take it back to Jamsport and let them map it, They obviously know the car.

My thoughts as well, just because it doesn't have all the bells and whistles of some other ECUs, Jamsport should know it inside out and back to front so you should get a decent setup.

245 actually

Mine sounds very similar to the original poster's spec. I did wonder how they made the 1.6 into a 1.9, now I know

Bit hard to forget i suppose what with the very '80's styling! Must say you boys done a good job, after four years standing, it started on the button!!!!!
