So there are realy the same as the stage 1 cts box's then. as far as i know they are rebuild gearbox's with big bearing and i think they cost the same
Xr2wishy is that what bearing they put in. if it is i would rebuild my own box

Yup thats pretty much it but CTS stage 1 has a new Input shaft fitted as standard (dont know if Jamsport do that?), the later BC boxes came with bigger bearings as standard, you can tell by the bung behind the main shaft on the casing.
As I said above the input and main shafts are no stronger so the box cannot really take any more power than the earlier small bearing BC box's, it's the teeth that shear off the input shaft and the main shaft that snaps mostly IIRC.

Jamsport big bearing box is not the same as a cts stage 1.
differences are the the gear sets, all bearings, lsd aswell are all refurbed or renewed and the final drive can be changed for a different drive!
i am sure the cts box does not do that.

Think am going to build my own box just didnt no what bearing's they used. think the cts stage 2+ cost's abit much
if i build a box with big bearing's new input shaft and shot peened gears it will be ok

Crazycage dont no what els to do, i want it on the road and set up for central day. the only other think is a mk5 rs 2000 box as far as i no that you dont hav to put custom made shafts into

is there any reason why hardly anyone uses an ib5 box from such as a sport ka or later duratec engined ka? only reason i can see is due to having to convert it to run a hydraulic clutch. you get a large choice of ratio's and final drive's to use from either a 1.3 ka, sport ka, zs fiesta, puma, racing puma to suite the gearing you want, there are a lot stronger than a standard bc box, bolt straight upto a cvh providing you use a bell housing from a duratec engined ka, cost very little to buy, rst lsd bolts straight in, just knock up a couple of mounts. they are used all the time in turbo'd ka's most of which run round about the 200bhp and 200lb/ft mark on a bog standard box and never go wrong, mine was just over 250lb/ft, standard ka box just with an rst lsd and was like this for years used as an every day car, quarter miles, and thrash's.
joey-p's old frs ka still ran an ib5 box with a quaife atb diff and upratded mainshaft with 345lb/ft through it and used for the same again, quarters, top speed runs, thrash's, and road use and his also clocked just under 160mph.

ours have all lasted fine and are still going, it depends how much power he's running mtx and getrag 6 speed box's are great but but why go to those extreme's if hye's only running say 200lb/ft for example?

then if your after 300 then you want to fit some type of mtx now then as i've just finished my engine that i would like to see around 260 from to start with then up it as i go along and i've fitted a jamsport box to but for the money etc i should of put the mtx in which at some point i will have to in long run so save time and money now and get it over and done with nothing worse than it going when your playing with some jap shit and getting laughed at as they drive off

wots in your mates s2? most turbo cars are not that progressive and have quite large torque figures
for example my mate has a dc5 that has 240bhp- his only has 160ft lbs of torque- i'd guess my bc box would last all day long in that motor

tell your mate what ever you want lol, but try claiming a failed bc on the warranty when the main shaft bearings fail or you strip the gears off ect then see if he still finds it funny when they fuck you and your mate off .
there is no way in hell a bc will ever be reliable at 350hp fact

i said that bernie rated the box upto 350bhp.
Why would bernie fuck me off? when its my mates box!
time for some facts:
FACT - mates box has been in his car for 2 years!
FACT-bernie/cts stage 2 plus box
FACT-no problems ragging the car, inlcuding full launchs
FACT-mates car is 240/250bhp
you should read whats been written and not what you think!

but the sad fact is your full of shit the box wont be reliable with 350 hp and you wont get it fixed under warranty.
oh and if the last one was to be a fact then it cant be 240 /250 its one or the other.

try 250+ lb ft of torque and tyres/suspension setups that can take that and try and put it to ground in 1st/2nd gear on a dry day.
i'm sorry but 350bhp with 350ft lbs of torque- often the sort of figures cvh/zvh/zt- in fact most ford turbo engines get would last 5mins on one of them box's so i find the claim quite funny tbh.
