Angry relay fault on escort turbo, can anyone help!!

hello everyone, i have a 1988 escort rs turbo and it has developed an electrical fault.
i changed the gearbox in it about a week ago and since then the exciter wire for the starter motor hasnt worked. today while investigating this i pulled out the second relay up from all the fuses on the left hand side, inspected it and replaced it, now, when the ignition is on and this relay is in, the passenger headlight comes on dipped beam permanently. but when this relay is removed it doesnt affect anything that i have noticed and the headlights work fine. can anyone help with this problem? if u can any replies wood b appreciated greatly

Did you refit the earth wire from the battery? (as this usually comes off when doing gearbox swaps and would cause a large manner of issues)

I was going to suggest this. Did you put the earth from the battery to the gearbox back on?

It sounds like the earth is off from the gearbox , or possible the start is stayin live , which might cause the ignition to stay on ever way you have a earth problem . I know is sounds stupid , but check all wires around the gearbox area as one might be trapped or on wrong and check wires to battery
