depends on the use of the car, everyday use would be fine for a semi 10w40 like millers.
for more abuse burtons recomend millers comp spec oil, 10w60.
my 1.8 zvh will be on this in a few miles, been run on 10w40 millers until now, but the power will be turned up with the paddle clutch now in place.

Always thought you needed a thicker fully snyth oil in a ZVH to stop the cam eating itself? I use Mobil One Motorsport 15w50.....when its working.

Smile Choosing Oil

Oil grades are measured in centistokes and an ideal centistokes value is around 14cst at normal running temperatures so you really need to know what temperature you oil is getting before you choose.

When oil is quoted at “10w40” the “10” is the oils viscosity value at 40degC and the “40” is the oils viscosity at 100degC

The idea is to choose a grade that will give you this 14cst at your normal running temperatures. I’m using 5w40 in mine as my oil temperature doesn’t go above 100 so I don’t need to go any higher. The “5” (as opposed to “10”) just means its thinner when cold which gives better protection until the oil is at its normal temperature.

The table below shows various oils and their viscosity at various temperatures.

DegC...............0...............10............4 0..............100
0W/20............329............181...........46..... ..........9..
5W/40............811............421...........92..... .........14..
10W/50..........1039...........539..........117....... ......18..
15W/50..........1376...........675..........130....... ......18..
20W/50..........2305..........1015..........148....... ......18..

Hope this helps.

Sam.

Any 15/50 or 10/50 fully Synth 3 Ester Oil will be fine, although i'd go for a 10/50 if you can get it as we are going into the winter months!
Remember that if your running any sort of decent boost your oil temp WILL be over 100deg if your driving hard, if you've got no water cooling on your turbo this again will mean higher oil temps, and again in the summer months you'll regualry be over 100deg.

IMO 10/50 is ideal, as this will get round the engine quickly on start up in the winter months (summer too ) and will still maintain a good viscosity when being driven hard
