power steering

Heard this mentioned before but reckon its a myth because although its a disabled vehicle, the point of these is for the disabled person to sit in the back in a wheelchair not driving it lol so why would it need power steering? lol

from what i've read on other posts it would seem that this lad and car have already beaten all the times set by christian bar the top speed one which for now he's not after so i do believe you owe him an apology and it would seem he doesn't need your luck but thanks for backing him anyway

Nothing wrong with power steering at all,
Miths include loss of steering feel and loss of power.
Both bollox, a car with PAS normally has a much quicker rack making turn in very quick, over steer correction faster and more precise and generally a much nicer car to live with/drive.
If i could be bothered i would consider doing it lol
And proper pictures crazy cage? why don't you do a write up?

i fitted new rack and four toyo proxes to my rst and it improved low speed steering massivley tbh not as good as power steering but you can steer with one hand at speeds of 5mph or less allthough i do have large forearms lol!

I think i'm going to add PS to mine!!
Just one question though for Rick and Crazycage..... if it adds no asistance whilst moving then is the steering just as sloooow as it always was?
I dont want it for parking assistance I just want to be able to steer faster when driving as going from lock to lock when your arse end comes round takes dangerously long!! lol
So maybe a quickrack and PS will be the way forward, or setting the assistance so that it is always on 'X' amount making it easier to turn the wheel at speeds with one arm say?!
Also the Corsa D PS motors look quite a bit shorter than the Corsa B/C motors!

and its a quite a bit harder to do than the hydraulic clutch conversion but if you are any good with a welder and problem solving then you will be fine.
p-s the one i fitted was the bigger one ... the smaller one would be a much better fit

I have no problem with problem solving/fitting and i'd get a friend to do the welding, as although I can weld i'd rather it done by someone better! lol
As far as I can make out aside from a small amount of wiring, you just need to cut the escort column and 'fit' the Corsa motor 'in-line' so to speak, and secure it from rotating! lol

the good thing is you dont need to do anything to the car that would stop you putting it back to standard if you couldnt do it.

i cut off the bottom of the corsa column at the uj and simply welded the escort part onto it and did the same at the top so the escort steering wheel could be fitted but you need to get the length right so all the dash and fittings fit back on . securing it is the hard part

unfortunately you'll need to cut some of your dash out depending on which side you mount the motor we put it on the left in rick's as that seemed to have a bit more space and easier to rebuild and get it flocked to cover mod if it came to it

No mate i'm not, I'll pick one up when I have a spare £100 as thats what they seem to go for on ebay with the ECU's.
Still getting bits together for my rebuild right now!! lol
