Zvh vs zetec turbs

keep the cvh or go full zetec mate. The normal 'put together on a driveway' zvh are so over rated. You need to spend money on them as the cvh cylinder head can't flow adequetly and power and torque die at 5.5krpm. That money could be spent getting a zetec turbo going and be of nice benefit as the zetec head is a fantastic bit of kit from the factory.
Out of interest why the 1.8 and not the 2litre?

I read your thread on boost pressure. That was a bit of a debate! Is your car basically all sorted out now? Regards to the inlet i.e decent head, decent intercooler. The manifold in the middle is not allowing the head and intercooler to do their job properly. Can you see what i mean? Get the inlet sorted out so you have got a decent flow to head. If you can get hold of a series 1 inlet manifold, even better.

My project has taken a standstill at present due to an issue with the metering unit deciding to pack up and chuck fuel into the lower boost pipe.... so until i finally get round to collecting my replacement, everything is on hold. I will look into getting the inlet flowed and Im guessing too, the bit between the head and inlet manifold (cant recall name of it). The head, as far as im aware has had some work down to it as the holes all looked fairly larger than the last head and were very smooth on the inside... but i aint believing nothing until i get it all checked over properly.
As for my Boost Thread Yea, it did go into a little debate stylee. Whatever tho, loads of ZVH's have been created over the past, and will still in the future... Mentioned above, its a budget engine that can produce great power and gives piece of mind knowing newer parts are being used... not starting a debate here now tho guys ok, so dont shoot me down!!!

I got told that there's not much to the metering unit as it is. All mechanical bits are sensors and the only moveable parts etc were the plunger and flap. Mine seems to be leaking fuel from the distributor on top to the air box below.... also told of an O-Ring that sits between the two, but talking with ford, and gaining an exploded diagram shows otherwise. I think its just fooked!

matt zetec head is good for 300bhp, all my mates have has close to 250bhp from just fiting a 1mm decomplate. i have gonna for a 2.5mm plate and dare say i could push 250bhp spot on np, zvh are good but a zetec turbo wins hands down.
zvh will run spot on runing mfi no need to go efi.

Dont suppose you have the R/R graph to show do you? not disputing it at all, just interested to see the power/torque curves

zetec turbo for sure in my opinion, c20let pistons, small ends machined and arps along with uprated valve springs will see 300bhp (ok rods are on thier limits but same would apply for zvh)

In earlier days there sure were some good reasons to build a ZVH engine. You got reliable capacity AND you were able to use existing injection systems (ERST, FRST) that fit plug&play to the cylinder head.
Nowadays many people in search for a maximum increase of power use mappable injection systems. So why dropping 8 valves (nearly all high power engine in modern cars use 4 valves for each cylinder) AND using a head thats already antique?
That's my opinion... Use engine capacity up to 2000 ccm AND a 16V cylinder head AND a mappable injection.

zetec turbo's are also overrated without spending a lot of money
take a look at this graph below 2.1 zetec turbo area six ported standard valve head T38 turbo high lift cams power only just holds on after 5.5k
