Random Idle?

Random Idle?
Have recnetly fitted a Group A coil and Motorsport leads! Car runs like a dream now through the rev range, yet my idle is still all over the shop!
Sat at 1100 when I first started the car, after a few miles of driving was 900, then a few miles of hard driving it was about 500-600 for about 5 minutes until it went back to 900 but spluttering?
is there anything that cause cause such sporadic idling?
The car was R/R a week ago!

yeah man got it connected the same.
the car has had this odd idle for a while. I thought the new coil and leads would illiminate it, as it used to have a misfire, and splutter alot under load, but that doesnt happen now, yet the idle is still everywhere.

OH! i thought it had come on since you'd fitted the parts. thats why i couldn't work it out cos mine went on and it just worked beautifully ever since.
not really sure then. you've just opened up the MFI can of worms
airleak,
dizzy, and rotor arm
plugs
err...
if its under load i'd straight away guess plugs if its still happening.

Idle mixture will cause erratic idle, spluttering = lean, reving up and down = rich, adjust it on the metering unit, clockwise to richen, anti clockwise to lean out, try 1/4 of a turn at a time and let it settle.
See if that helps!

But surely that would have been sorted on the rollers?
I reckon you should take it back to the r/r and say ya not entirely happy with it. If you start messing with things, you'll have no chance of getting them to look at it without having to pay out again!

However i think you may be onto something with the airleak. Seeing as it has new plugs, leads, coil, and the dizzy is only 2500 miles old im sure i can overule them.
But i just checked my boost gauge and when the car is running down the vacuum pressure is 27. yet on tick over its about 12. im pretty sure it used to be much higher then that, gonna have a look 2moro for any hissing on tick over. see if any pipes are loose or have split sucking in too much air.

Well I got it done at Northampton motorsport and they are a sound bunch down there. As soon as they found the fault with the leads they told me to go and purcahse some new bits then they put me in for a power run on thursday, to see if its rectified the issue. Also they had the car for 3 and a half hours fitting the actuator then working out the boost limit (as i have no idea what chip my ecu has) then tuning it up to the limit of the faulty plugs + coil. However, seeing as the car was obviously not at its potential they only charged me for an hour's labour! Top Blokes!
