Default Cone filter or panel filter?

I currently have a pipercross cone filter on my ERST. Im just wondering if it is best to go back to a standard box with a k&n panel filter?

Your oppinion please.

Cheers.

A lot of people think its better to go with a standard drilled airbox and k&n panel filter than a pipercross or k&n induction kit because of the engine temps as induction kits hate hot air!!! I personally have a k&n induction kit but also have a standard airbox which when i have got a k&n panel filter i will be fitting, imo m8 go with the standard airbox and panel filter.

Yup as above! Drilling it is just like having a cone filter sucking in hot air from everywhere!

Its the same old argument for and against cone filters, when your car is moving along all the air surrounding the front of the car does not get into the engine bay as the air knows theres a cone filter under the bonnet, leaving all the hot air to find its way into the engine.
If you want a cone have a cone, if you want an airbox have an airbox, the next thread will be chargecoolers and intercoolers im sure.

a cone filter has a 360 degree area to suck in where as the airbox is suckin on from the front only,so therefore its suckin in clean air

my old s2 ran a k n cone but as we all know rst engine bays get rather hot,so changed it for a drilled air box and k n panel filter, worked wonders and sounded awesomealthough my late shell will be running standalone management, with a huge group a cossie cone affair

the evidence speaks for its self
my old Cossy made
standard 280bhp hub
K&N cone filter 284bph hub
K&n pannel with drilled box 291bhp hub

... i went with the K&N pannel haha
although i was told a massive cone will work best

the best thing i have come across is a air box with a k n panel and the person had got a length of 64mm cold air feed and drilled a 64 mm hole in the air box and place the cold air feed in the usual place and sealed the piping to the airbox. no chance of hot air being taken in.
