front damper

Default front damper

what is the knack to remove the front damper,i have took the bolt out and squirted oil around but i cannot get it to budge

With the top of the strut stll connected to the car,remove the pinch bolt and hit the hub down off the strut with a hammer!

loads of smacks with a lump hammer mate. OR! if your axle stands are good with the top bolt on a few turns, stand on the brake disk/hub assembly and jump up and down for abit. it you've put wd40 down there first you shouldn't have too many probs.

i usually line up a selection of hammers in order of size, then begin the hitting process, and progress up in hammer size until the hub gives, or my arm gets tired from smashin the shit out of the hub

then when it comes to refitting, i always inevitably forget to coat it in copper grease, so the process ends up just as hard the next time round

why not get a cold chiesel and open up the lower part of the hub a mm or so to let the ball joint drop out easier.
this tends to work better than knocking the shit out of the arm.

i got the old damper out using the cold chisel route.put the new koni ajustable on and a new spring but the suspention is nearly solid when you press the wing down.when i got the damper theres a diagram with how to and how not to put the damper in a vice but it is not very explanitry do you have to ajust the damper in the vice.

should have a little plastic adjuster, u drop it on the adjuster nipple on the strut top and turn it to adjust from soft to firm

i know what you mean but i have done that, and it is still near enough solid thats why i think somethink else needs ajusting
