chassis number in floor
I got a question about my chassis number in the floor...
my floor is kinda rusting away and now i got new floorpans to weld in!
Whats the best way to get the numer into the new floorpan?
Can i just go to a local Ford dealer and ask them to restamp my
chassisnumber into the new floor? or is that a stupid thing to do?
or try to weld the plate with my number into the new pan?
The bit with the number on looks all just fine

i contacted the dvla wen i did my rear floor pans, and they were happier, takin into account the age of the vehicle, for it to lose its ID stamp rather than have it welded back in for example, looks less sus
theres no perfect solution, i think the dvla and the authorities realise this, and whatever method u go for, its going to raise suspision at some point, but the fact wil remain the truth will come out either way when investigated if necessary at any point in future
also, ford want to charge insane amounts of money for the chassis stamp!!
also helped in my case that mine is a boggo 1.3 pop shell, and would take an absolute idiot to attempt to weld in the ID of a boggo 1.3 popular to anythin other than itself, the ultimate in pointless ringers

if you look about enough you will find a stamp kit decent enough, a bit of headscratching and using your loaf you will get it pretty damn near what it should be.
its soooo worth it theres nothing worse that no floor number send people running
