you mean chatter valve they dont exsist mate the contiouns chattering you have probaly heard on some cars when shutting the throttle on boost its called turbo chatter its the noist of the positave boost presure backing up through the turbo and hitting the compresser wheel thus slowing the turbo

you can normaly get the noist by removing the dump valve and having a more free flowing air filter but if you have mfi you wont get the noise lol

I never knew what it was. I just assumed a chatter box was a type of dump valve. Shows my in-experience lol.
What sort of valve do I need to get?
Does it make any difference to the performance at all?
Thanks for the advice

Now now guys... be nice.

You all werent born with a ford or engine encyclopedia.

We all have to learn from somewhere.

After all this is an enthusiasts site, where people can come and get help and advise.

And all you do is ridicule him...... nice one.

the noise is not something you can add, its normally a sonic noise of the air getting chopped up in the turbo, more noticable with a car where the turbo go's straight to a inductuction kit.

Hmmm, an inductuction kit? Would that be a straight swap for my induction kit? Do they make more power with inductuction kits compared to induction kits?

The inductuction kit clearly is an induction kit fitted with duct tape...

How comes a dump valve aint good for the engine? Ive been hearing alot that the MFI RST isnt that good. Why is that? Can you convert it to EFI?

They are fine as long as the are in good order, if they start leaking your car will idle really badly maybe even stall. MFI RS Turbo's are very sensitive to air leaks, and yes you can convert your car to EFI plenty of info on here if you do a search mate.

Would you suggest just sticking to the MFI?

IMO If you want around the 200bhp mark then MFI is fine......... EFI is better but not needed.

Fair play mate you took it well

As said above if you take the d/v off and fit a blanking plug to stop the air leak it will chatter.

I'm using the end of a broom stick! (seriously!)

On MFI cars the problem with dump valves is that it releases air that has already gone through the metering head where the mixture is set.

So the metering head injects a certain amount of fuel for the air it has detected going passed it. If you "dump" some of that air through a dump valve, you're mixture will be too rich when going back on throttle. In my experience however, the effect is a lot smaller than what people make of it.

I've run my car with and without dump valve and to be honest, I couldn't really notice any difference. So it's really up to you. If you like the noise they make, go for it, if not, get rid of it.

Just make sure the dump valve used is a twin piston one and that the car idles steadily.
