Default Holding back on boost

Im not having a good time with my engine of late (some of you may have read recently). I live in a town that is the size of a pin head on the maps and work on my doorstep too, so my turb never really gets to go anywhere decent. The other day tho I took it out and it felt real sluggish. My mates decided they would shoot off at ridiculous speeds and my turb just wouldnt go anywhere on boost!

The scenario
3,000 rpm and the boost creeps in, but thats about it... it wont boost normal.... well thats a lie because the gauge registers 12+ psi boost, but the engine doesnt go anywhere, if ya get me. I try hammering the pedal and it feels like im towing a bloody bus! I lift up the pedal halfway (as this has helped before) and still it holds back. If i continue trying to raise the speed of the car, it holds back and then pops 3 or 4 times and lets out a small puff of smoke. It might pop more, but i sh*t myself and let off the accelerator lol

Second gear gives the best boost, but anything else is just rubbish... especially in 5th!

Im gonna have her checked over next week, but thought I'd run it passed you guys while I wait

I have laid off the power since as I knew it werent right. The turb to metering hose is fine by the looks of it, but it will be replaced as its not as blue as it used to be lol. The crossover to intercooler hose is solid metal, so thats cool too.

I read on here in older threads that it could simply be down to a mis-aligned distributor timing. Maybe this is the issue, or one of them, but will see after this weekend when she's checked over.

Took the plugs out two weeks ago and they were black. That shows an over rich mixture, true? so that eliminates fuel starvation....

Correct, black plugs means your running rich............. or in the case of RS Turbo's running normal!
MFI RS's run very rich off boost because the fueling isnt mapable all you can set is full load mixture and idle mixture, what happens in between cannot be altered.
