problem with my escort rs turbo cabriolet
he all i just bought a real nice escort cab rs turbo...it starts up first thing evry morning fine and drives perfect till it gets worm then it will start 2 miss fire and smoke,,,ill then leave it 4 about 30 mins then the car will start back up and drive fine after tha bu then repets it all the time...ive replaced the metering unit and fuel fillter but still the same problem..can any 1 hellp me plzzz

I had this on an old xr2. Found that I had put the wrong type of fuel cap on and its wasnt letting enuf air in. Exact same symptons as what ur saying. I put one of those plastic caps on (not gud for mot tho!) and it ran great.

hi all..ive changed evrything i can think of now.. changed metering unit,plugs.leads,petrol fillter and coil..im going 2 try and put plastic petrol cap on it later and see wat happns..it so strage it runs perfect till temp pics up then it missis real bad as if its over fueling but starts bk up after about 30 mins and drives till it gets worm again..some 1 said something about the gap in the spark plugs 2 make sure ther rite..im well confuzed lol

Howe do i sort tha out mate..IVE EVENM TRYD DISCONECTING THE COLD START 2 SEE IF IT WAS STICKING ON BUT IT WASNT. I REALY HOPE U CAN HELLP ME OUT AS THE CAR IS REALY GETTING ME DOWN AND IM THINKING ABOUT SELLING IT BU DUN REALY WANT 2 AS ITS A MINT H REG CABRIOLET IN TROPHY BLUE,,LOWERD ECT.......

i have a similar problem in that it's a bitch to start and then runs a little rich.
i've been told that the coolant temperature sensor will be knackered, which makes sense as the idle is high most of the time too.
give that a shot, it's located at the bottom of the inlet manifold.

ye im going 2 buy a new 1 2 moz as ive just read up about them..its seems like it might b tha couse it controls petrol and spark wen car is getting 2 temp.ill let u all knoiw howe it goes 2 moz.many thanks ray
