Default good track cars?

i know theres a few members on here who use there ersts on track, just wondering do they make good track cars or would you look elsewhere for a car to use on track?

hw well can the cvh stand up to the abuse?

Those RST's are rubbish on track, you're much better off buying a Pug 205,EVO or a 2LET Redtop Nova like most people on PassionPugEVOLET!! regards,Micky

wouldnt do serious track days in a rst, unless you have a big wallet!!!!

As said cheap and cheeful something like a pug205 or tha clio 127 has become quite poullar

or serious money something like an evo or bmw.

As much as i love rst's, they really are not great on a track, unless u spend lots and have a recovery truck!

easy, buy a nova, buy a 20xe engine, put 2 together and hey presto 1 cheap as chips track car that loves abuse!

RST's don't even seem to be able to stand up to the strain of daily driving never mind track days!

I sold my nova XE to buy my RST. Could get in the nova any time, turn the key and kick it's head in as much as you wanted and it loved it
My RST on the other hand has taken about a grand off me in the 3 months I've had it but I still enjoy it more than the nova, mad eh!

Fiesta rs 1800. Not a lot of money for a lot of fun. Coilovers, sticky low profiles, completely stripped, caged, yamaha r1 carbs, cams and a bit of port n polish. Escorts are in the pit over heating but the fiesta just keeps going and going.

Novas are a cheap, simple but effective little toy, where RST's just arn't!

Lol so true...if you listened to anyone on passionford about rst's on track you wouldn't bother! Yet i've never had a problem keeping up with cars of similar bhp and had plenty of people quite shocked at how well it goes on track, alot of it's how they're driven at the end of the day and i know micky too puts his round well keeping up with plenty of bigger bhp cars! Definately not as bad as people make out...any 20 year old car that's been poorly maintained will be unreliable on track not just rst's.

All these people slating Escort Turbos! Tut Tut!

Doesnt sound very PASSIONford to me!

Ive had loads of RS Turbos over the past 12 years and TBH people running them on a shoe string and playing with things they dont understand is 90% of the problem.

ITS AN OLD CAR PEOPLE! They will always need keeping on top of as will any car of that age/abuse level!

As a track car, they do need a bit of cash to get them going well, but no more than any half decent 205/Nova (built to an equally good spec). I have watched my mates budget build chasing a CSI BMW M3 up the straight on a track day!

If people obviously feel they are so crap/money pits why own one and why spend your evenings talking about them?

^^ above is true, ok they are not the most reliable cars, but when you hammer it and it comes on boost that puts the bigest smile on your face, they also look so good

bmw e36 328i or m3 handles good in the track.
I have been many trackdays with my 328i and it works fine. Nice handling, bit of understeer at the bends and when limit its oversteers nicely but not too much.
