Default Installed boost gauge and am AMAZED at the results.

I installed my boost gauge the other day and I thought id warm the car up and take it out for a spin to see what she was reading.

2nd and 3rd gear on full throttle, it peaks just over 1 bar, id say its around the 15 to 16 psi mark.

I was shocked as I thought it was running standard boost, should have known it wasnt as it has a boost controller in the car (mechanical one)

In a way im a little dissapointed as I thought i could squeeze a few more psi out of her but i dont think it is safe to do so,

And the quest for more power continues!

If your on a stock engine and turbo you may be able to squeeze a couple more psi out, but you'll need a good FMIC, and will have to hope that your metering head can supply enough fuel for it.
To be honest if you have not had it set up, i would at least go for a power run to make sure your not running dangerously lean already!

that is immense power for only 10 psi mate.... i love the idea of sticking with the cvh engine and have seen some great power outputs. I think where most people go wrong is not having any head work done. I have read the puma racing information about how important it is to have head work done, even more so on turbo charged engine which most people dont understand, they simply say (just up the boost)

Thanks for that build spec matey, it would suit my budget no end! Are you running standard injectors with mfi?

What you reckon it would peak at 15 psi or would it go pop lol?

Thats exactly right!
The Headwork and Cam make a huge difference to the flow (VE) of the engine, the easier it can get gasses in and out the greater your perfomance will be. Although my power is made at a relatively low boost (pressure) the is a lot of air (volume) being forced into the chambers and thats what counts.
If i was to have a standard head and wanted to make the same power the boost would have be about 16-18psi to get the same volume of air in!

Headwork will cost you anything from £350 upwards depending what you have done mate, http://www.cylinderheaddevelopments.co.uk/ these are the boys to speak to!

There is only one type of injector for MFI mate so yes they are standard.

Mine peaks at 17psi and then gradually drops down to 10psi because a stock T3 cant flow enough on my engine to hold 17psi over about 4000prm.
As your RPM increases the engine requires more and more air flow from the turbo to hold your desired boost pressure, so my next upgrade is a Stage 2 T3!

Ill fit the fronts tomorrow too!
