Default starting problem help!! series one turbo

would appreciate it if any of you can give me any ideas on wot this problem could be as im baffled with it!
the car is a series one rs turbo standard mfi, i have completely re-built the engine from scratch, crank grind and shells,re-bore accralite pistons 1mm oversize, head reconditioned, new guides, seals, valves re cut, skimmed etc.. all new seals, gaskets the lot.
now, when it was done it started first flick of the key,and its so quiet and smooth and runs like a dream, but did puff out a cloud of blue ish smoke(only when it was left standing),which was definatly fuel as it stunk of petrol, as it warmed up it cleared and was fine, i put this down to leaking injectors so one morning without starting the engine i pulled out the injectors and bingo they were ringing wet with fuel!!
so i have bought a brand new genuine bosch set of injectors, and now it wont start first turn of the key anymore?? you have to crank it over and over for at least 15 seconds or more before it even fires! which is very annoying :0(
its only done this since ive changed the injectors, ive had the emisions set on a machine at around 3.5 percent for the m.o.t but no difference at all!

surely putting new injectors in would make things better? so i thought!
i have a few ideas but would like to see wot you lot think it could be?

anybody ?

Sounds like the mixture mate, it would have been really rich on start up with leaking injectors and now they are new and not leaking it will be really lean!
Just turn the idle mixture screw 1/4 of a turn at a time clockwise until it fires up!
Obviously do this from stone cold, and if it doesnt start after say 3 revolutions, go another 1/4 and repeat until it does start.

It could also be the cold start injector not working (leaking injectors would have compensated for this to some degree) so you could try that also.

Karlos.

hi karlos thanks for the replie, yes it must be something stupid i guess,as it was mint before i put those new injectors in, i wonder if theres a way of testing the cold start injector? maybe take it out and see if it sprays fuel out when stone cold? can they just stop working altogether?
other thing i was going to ask was wot about the water temp sensor in the back of the inlet manifold? does this send a signal to the cold start valve when the engine is cold? maybe thats not working... ??

anybody else have any ideas?

Yes mate you can take it out but leave it plugged in (if you get what i mean? lol), get someone to turn it over and see if it sprays.
Yes the Coolant Temp Sensor does control the CSV so could be that if it doesnt spray when you try it.
Yes the CSV can just stop working as its a electronic solenoid and so can fail like any other electronic injector.

i got told that when having starting problems the cold start injector should be unplugged and that it isnt needed in this country as the temps dont get extremely cold or too hot.

PMSL!
Whoever told you that has no idea what they are talking about!
Every car has some form of cold start fuel enrichment irrespective of what country it is in or what the ambient temps are!

Sometimes it helps to dosconnect the CSV on RS's becasue old injectors leak fuel into the inlet as the car is stood up, so when it's started it already has plenty of fuel for a cold start and if the CSV then adds more fuel it can struggle to start because it's flooding itself!

Fuel is black smoke yes, if you have blue smoke that is oil. and white smoke (actually steam) is water.
