Default oil cap pops off

hi guys.

i got a s2 RST and have a problem of the oil cap popping off under boost... what would cause this? i gather it would be from excess pressure maybe?

cheers

make sure the rear oil return/breather from the back of the rocker cover are free from old dried oil and free flowing.

Car runs smoothly idle when oil cap inserted correctly?
My ex rst did blow off the cap when piston was broken because of pinking.
But the car idle was not smooth.. one cylinder leak.

As above, check breather system for blocks and i would also do a compression test on the engine

Also make sure the one way valve between the inlet manifold and breather system is working correctly. If it is sticking open and not closing under positive pressure (turbo pressure) then it will be pressurizing the breather system/sump forcing the cap off.

As rick says, when mine was run in and setup it blew the cap straight off the first time it saw full boost, 10 year old cap wasnt up for it. Only cheap from ford (£4 I think).

hi fella
as said do a compression test first
if its all good
try putting 1 ring of electrical tape around the rocker cover/oil filler lip as the rubbers do wear out also if its not a standard engine then i would put a after market breather system on the car as its a fact the standard system are shit
