Hello Guys,

What is the best place to go with a oilcooler? I have seen pics with oilcoolers behind the rad, but i don't think that is the best place for them to go?! Close to the turbo and behind a big IC and Rad..

Where did you place them or what is the best place in your opinion?

You put it in the path of airflow...... it's a heat exchanger/radiator!

Yeah but where do i get the best airflow? The front is blocked with the IC and Rad so that means i have to get on the back of them or move it to the sides but i don't know if i get enough airflow

People have mounted them on the Right hand (OS as said) inner wing and move the ignition coil IIRC...

Would need an air feed if fitted there though.

If you don't get enough airflow through your radiator, then i'd be a bit more worried about your water temp than your oil temp!

I will have enough airflow but then it's close to the turbo and i have hot air from the intercooler and rad comming through my oilcooler... so that's more an issue to me

I'm going for the other option i think

they fit inside the drivers side wheel well. take your front bumper of and you'll see there is nothing in there and gets lots of nice air and if needed a little fettle with bumper will make sure all the air you want will get there you can't use passenger side as washer bottle is there

As for oil cooler place, as said. By the OS wing with some fans ontop. Failing that, how much oil line you got? You could mount it at the front, by cooler or just under slam panel with some fans on it to help.

not plumbed in yet, but you can see where the in / outlets are (red bits)

No need to take the bumper off, it is allready and i just wanted to know if there was enough airflow!

Will have to look if i have enough oil line and i don't want do drill in my new bumper

Just put mine here.

No real airflow but with some small fans on it and mabe a cold air feed we'll see how it goes.

Otherwise it'll have to go in the wing or something as said before.

Thats a complete waste of time putting that oil cooler there,you may aswell fitted it in the glovebox!!!Regards,micky

fans on your oil cooler is retarded.

the time when you NEED oil cooling is the time when you should have airflow.

if not, youve put it in the wrong place.

fans cant keep up with shit, as said, may as well put it in glovebox, or up a cats anus.

Thought about where to place it and saw a few rst's on here that had it there so assumed it would have at least some effect with an airfeed.

I haven't got any space in the glovebox though... that's where my ecu sits

Never thought of the idea like project RS and dave y ... will put it there and modd the bumper a bit for some airflow.

the intercooler on a megane TD / megane scenic TD is located in the same place basically and that seems to work =) no vents in that location nither

Mine is where dave y's is, i have a 13 row in there with no problems.

Oil temp is never an issue on mine at all

ford thought it was a good place for a cooler

approx 90 degrees on track says it works

it's around 80 degree's normal driving and defi warning is set at 100 degrees - ok to me

3 National days, 2 Crofts, 2 Ring trips and various other trackdays haven't killed it yet

with fitting the oilcooler sandwith plate do i have to lose the old oil to water sandwichplate? and do i have to connect the two hoses together?

Sticking it on the inner wing is a complete waste of time and WILL NOT give you cool oil temps.Regards,Micky
