Default clutch pedal adjustment

Hello Guys,

Yesterday i finished off my pedal adjustment with the white quadrant and the mk5 pedal. Now the pedal is really high compared to the brake pedal and i also need alot of travel to get it running free. i haven't mounted a spring to keep the pedal down anymore. Is that the right way or have you guys still fitted a spring to keep it down?

How much higher are your pedal compared to the brake pedal?
The cable can stay the same don't they? The fork on the gearbox is also futher to the back of the car then with a original clutch. Is this normal?

Finall question can you post up some pics of your conversion so i can see i'm doing it the right way!

Would be a great help!

With the cable disconnected from the gearbox, does the fork return to the original position? That, of course, shouldn't be affected by this conversion. If that position has changed then something is wrong with the installation of the clutch.

Regarding the pedal position, I trimmed down the nut that I used on the end of the adjuster bolt, this lowered the pedal slightly. You also need to take as much material off the quadrant as you dare (you'll see that it has 'ribs', so don't take it down beyond those or it will become weak).

My pedal position is now reasonbly satisfactory, it is slightly high, but there certainly is no further adjustment. I've been using it like that for about 6-7 years without problems and haven't yet broken a quadrant.

When i disconnect the cable the fork is like straight with the driveshafts.. Is this normal?

Do you guys still have a spring connected to the pedal?

Could someone post up some pics of his conversion. I need to know if i have to take the gearbox of to check there's nothing wrong, but i can't imagine that i made a mistake with the clutch!

The first couple of centimeters that i use the clutch there's only stretch from all the components and no movement of the clutch fork. Do i need to get a spring to get rid of this? Will this change after some use?

That stretch is what makes the problem that the clutch needs to be real high to get the car running free...

I hope some one can help me and post some pics up if you got them so i can check everything @ my car!

Cheers

standard pedal conversion makes it stick to far up
do the bodge like ap describe to lower it and it will break
if you can live with a high pedal then it will work just fine
your pedal should work as normal
if you cant dis engage the clutch you might have fitted the clutch backwards
