Default can some one me on advise on changing my crank please

Hi all
Please can some one advise me on changing my crank. last year i rebuilt part of my engine again and was about to sell the car when on the morning it was about to be sold the bottom end started banging. i traced it back to a worn crank ( its gone oval around the shells on one piston). I have a new crank and im wondering if i can remove the one on the car without taking the engine out again. I know the crank does come out of the bottom. but can i just move the gear box over and slot it down. please if any one has done this can they please help. Thanks all
SORRY ITS A ERST WITH 1.8 zetec botton end.

take it out, makes life so much easier, especially if you end up doing it when the weather has been like it is today!

I've changed a crank with the engine still in, had to drop the gearbox though to get the flywheel off.
If you dont have a hoist and/or cant be arsed with disconnecting everything up top then it's really easy to just drop it out and reaplace with a new one, dont forget to have the new crank meassured to make sure you are using the right size shells!
