Default series 1 cossie turbo!

hey people wondering if you can give me some advice on behalf of me mate, its a series 1 escort with cossie management he has taken the engine out which was running fine to get the car resprayed, got it back and the only things done was a new timing belt and group a fuel pump, the timing we sure is right but do you need to turn the fuel pressure down due to the pump or any other ideas??? it does sort of start but hardly runs and loads of smoke (lots of fuel) ???? thanks

I shouldnt think you should have problems with that then your best bet is to have it set up ie fuel pressure etc. It needs setting right with a proper pressure gauge pal.
