Default please help me

i am the owner of a 88 erst which i bought in oct 07 and it is the first rs i have owned so i am a bit new to the whole scene

since buying the car i have had nothing but trouble

new battery tray, leaks all over (now sorted)

the car would not start when warm so i have replaced the starter motor, battery and alternator

done the starter today
i removed hoses to get at it from above as it was a pig to do from below and i found the dreaded brown sludge in all the air hoses i removed

also the turbo prop has a fair bit of play is this usual
i was told it was a t34 hybrid and it is marked garret .42

any help really appreciated

regarding warm start probs, sludge or turbo

also after being stood for a couple of days batt is flat
the car is delocked and has a toad alarm

hi mate i had the same bother regarding the warm start probs there was a thread about it months ago and you can still buy the original ford heatshield that stops your starter from heating up.
turbowise if its not smoking on startup or in general boosting etc i would say just leave it and as for the sludge could be headgasket water mixing with oil good luck with your problems been there done that lol

with the battery i would check for a battery drain with a multimeter, if there is start pulling fuses one by one and if the voltage goes down you then know what direction to look in.. usually something stupid like a boot light or something...
as for the sludge in the air hoses, i believe thy all get this and just need cleaning out on the odd occasion. as well as the boost pipes.

the play in the shaft is side to side and up and down

however the charge carrier appears to have leaked oil since pipe removed yesterday is this normal
