what paint should i paint me gearbox in??
just about to paint my gearbox before its put back together, has been acid etched , was gonna do it in halfords silver, but now am unsure, will it stand up to the heat in the engine bay?, what have other people used?
dont want to hammerite it.

I'm building a standard class concours XR2 at the moment and that doesn't allow painting things that weren't factory painted so I spent a day with wire brushes in drills and hand held brillo pads.
its just a case of a quick wipe over with an abrasive pad occasionally to keep it looking good, unlike painted boxes which will need repainting, usually meaning removal from the engine bay.

standard 2k base and laquer does the job just fine, done about 3 boxes like this and all lasted really well. plus its cheaper than VHT
VHT limits your colour options really, unless of course black or silver is your thing, then your sorted lol
