i have just rebuilt engine on s2 rs and i cant get it to fire i think timing is bang on there is fuel up and ther is a spark i have towed it round road and it fired but missing its nackers off and wouldnt revv any ideas what im doing wrong

have you checked for air leaks?

are the ht leads the correct way around, air leaks, is it running too rich

quick way of also checking timing against dizzy is when it's at tdc the dizzy end should be pointing at 1 not 4 incase your half a cycle out for ht leads and above

1 air leaks ! not as i found any tried a bit of easy start spraying around it diddnt make any difference
2 ht leads !what is correct fireing order on dizzy just to double check ive got 1342 fireing order but maybe i have started off wrong ?
3 unsur of mixture rich but it still run wont it if it is rich just smoke alot will double check timing ect tomorrow but i am 99.9% shure it is bang on i dont have a bottom plate for lining up pulley but done it to tdc piston 1 and spun it over even if it was a tooth out it should still run with adjustment on dizzy but it just tries and dont go

Have you got a dump valve fitted? as i found this on mine when i had it rebuilt had one on which was leaking air and car would not start took it off and was fine was driving me mad it would not start and all beacuse of a bloody dump valve
