Im doing a zetec conversion in my s1. I had the chance to buy a 35000 mile focus rs engine minus turbo and manifold a while back for Ł1100... wish I would have now

yeah i have a zetec in a mk3 and could get a focus engine cheap, and was wondering whats it like to fit? any problems? like what clutch and g-box?

My dad lives up that way, would be good to see ur car once finished. So fitting the st170 standard engine to my mk3 aint much different from fitting the zetec?

im putting the st 6 speed gearbox in so i'll need custom mounts welded to the inner wing & another underneath just for the gearbox, then another mount has to made for the engine, but its been differant that makes the car mine i spose

Cant u use the modded cvh one that bolts on too the zetec block?

but a mate runs a black top in his xr2 & he's got some well fancy mount

i dont see the point when a focus rs spec is easily achievable with a normal zetec turbo

I would like to do it.
Its different and the engine is alreay turbo'd and can put out some pretty decent power for am rst to cope with

Thought the black-top uses the same mount as silver top? correct me if i`m wrong but thought the st170 used a similar block to the zetec?

Got you now!
Mine is a Focus RS block with a ST170 head, I have the ST block and the mounts are exacally the same on the 2 blocks. I have used the ERST engine mount converted to Zetec, and like smits use the Getrag 6 speed box, with an inner wing mount and a lower torque reaction mount.

the st170 head is better flowing than the rs head & even better than cossie head & has big ports etc as standard

none realy, old pistons & rods & thats it as i baught a bare engine with no manifolds etc

How much is a st engine worth with all parts and loom?

I paid Ł750 for complete engine and box with all looms and manifolds.
It was a complete kit to fit into a std Focus to make it an ST.

i paid Ł500 for a bare engine 26k on it deliverd to my door

i didnt need manifolds as im going custom & i thaught id use my old CTS stg 2 + box but as a few of them arent proving themselvs im goping 6 speed aswell,
check on ebay as theres a few breakers selling engines
