Default Step by step needed

For fitting a sump gasket. Just ordered a new one and want to get it right this time

So can i have a proper step by step on fitting one without using tonnes of sealant etc. I know how to get the sump off etc. Its literally just getting it to seal im having major difficulties with

Thanks in advance

take the engine out and turn it upside down, its easy then as the seal stays in place, mine hasn't leaked since i did mine

this always works for me remove the sump spray some spray glue onto the sump fit the gasket and leave overnight now the gasket is solid and wont move/slide about when u offer up the sump, clean out all the sump bolt thread holes with a degreasent then slide the back right corner of the sump(as u look at the car) into position then turn the sump slightly and it should push straight up into position, put some threadlock onto the sump bolts and partialy tighten them up starting with each end then along the middle, keep going round tightening them bit by bit and make sure the gasket dosent push out of the side of the sump, refill with ur old oil and go for a 20 min drive then check for leaks if all is ok then drain the oil and fill with new oil, one week later recheck the tightness of the sump bolts just to make sure

try the following

sealants are a waste of time and have a nasty habbit of ending up in your oil pickup

buy the one piece rubber gasket from the efi motors
get some m6 grub screws about 12mm long(uses allen keys which are required to remove them) , about 8 off
clean the sump mating faces properly
tap out the sump mating face ensuring the metal is bent back into shape
apply a thin layer of grease
install 8 off grub screws , remove as required when putting in bolts
install gasket to the block
install sump
tighten in alternating patterns until the gasket just starts pushing out(do not overtighten as the gasket simply breaks)
it is easier to use a small socket (1/8") set with a nuckle at the end for the two bolts at gearbox end
refill with oil , check for leaks and nip as required

big note: clean out the threads on your block before putting in the bolts , do not force them in , if they do not go in easily , back off and try again
if the bolts look suspect , discard

you do not want to remove a bolt from underneath , it must be the worst job on a cvh

be careful when pushing the sump up , do not dislodge the ends , especially the gearbox end you cant see

hope this helps
