splutter on boost

Default splutter on boost

iv just changed the headgasket on my series 2 rs but when it comes on boost it splutters and wont go anywhere sounds like its got a boost leak but hav checked all boost pipes all seam ok and tight.any idears

check your cam timing and valve clearences if you have solid followers

just checked cam timeing its fine,bottem pulley mark on 0 and the pointer on the cam pully lined up wiv the mark on the head.am useing a piper 285t2 cam

Has the cam eaten itself? The Pooper cams are well known for it.

How was the car running before the headgasket change

it was running fine b4 i changed the gasket,apart from overheating but i fitted the piper cam at the same time as i changed the gasket,it woz a second hand cam it doesnt rattle at all tho,thought it would rattle if the cam woz worn.

Did you check, measure the lobes on the cam before fitting?

I would seriously be suspecting the cam about now. Second hand cams really aren't a great idea

part of your problem is you've got the timing wrong you've put it to standard ford timing and you need to set it to 118 degrees atdc with number 1 inlet fully open had this the other week on a friends rs and now starts and boosts fine. if your not sure how to do this put standard one back in and see how it runs then process of elimination if still no better
