As above, its in a 88 escort rs turbo and it squeaks like mad, anybody have the same problem or know how to fix it... I think its squeaking by the speaker pod, theres like a ridge that the shelf sits on which is where the noise is coming from
cheers for any help

They all do it - and i have waged war.
With the boot up - grab the speaker mount - and wiggle it - it creaks... To stop this, get an old cotton cloth, and cut it up into small strips. U then use a small screwdriver to force the cloth between the mount and the shell. Keep doing it and eventually the creak will totally go - as it's now rubbing on the cotton.
The other place it squeaks is the actual "hinges" of the shelf. Take the shelf hangers off and move it up and down - you'll see what i mean. I tried silicone lube, and it works for a while but it comes back.
To cure it - get some cloth tape (anything soft/furry but thin - i use rayon tape) and wrap the parcel shelf mounts in it. Don't go too thick or you won't get it back in place. This totally cured mine of any sqeaks.
To top it off, to stop and vibrations from the shelf, stick some sound deadening pads to the underneath - dynamat type. Result = nice quiet back end![Grin](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)
